How laser tattoo removal works
The laser fires pulses that the ink absorbs and the surrounding skin largely does not. The energy shatters the pigment into fragments small enough for your immune system to carry away over the following weeks — which is why the work happens between sessions, not during them. Each pass breaks up a portion of what remains, and the ink clears progressively rather than disappearing at once.
What it can and cannot clear
Black and dark blue ink respond best; they absorb the widest range of wavelengths. Green, light blue and some yellows are harder, and a few pigments never clear completely. Amateur tattoos usually take fewer sessions than professional ones because the ink sits shallower and is less densely packed. Older tattoos clear faster than fresh ones. Anyone quoting a fixed number of sessions before seeing your tattoo is guessing.
Session and recovery
Fifteen to thirty minutes depending on size, with numbing where needed. The sensation is sharp — commonly described as hot elastic snaps. Immediately after, the area goes white for a few minutes, then swells and reddens. Blistering can occur and is normal. Healing takes one to two weeks, and sessions are spaced six to eight weeks apart to give the immune system time to clear what was broken up. The full course usually runs six to twelve sessions.

The consultation exists to give you a real answer instead of a hopeful one. Aurora looks at ink colours, depth, density, your skin type and how the tattoo was made, and from that estimates a session range and a realistic end point — which for some tattoos is significant fading rather than complete clearance. That estimate is given before you commit to anything.

Safety, side effects and aftercare
What to expect
Immediate whitening of the treated area, then redness and swelling. Blistering or crusting within the first days is normal and must not be picked. Temporary lightening or darkening of the surrounding skin can occur, particularly on darker phototypes.
When we don't treat
Not performed on tanned or sunburnt skin, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, where there is a history of keloid scarring, or on a tattoo covering a mole or pigmented lesion — that lesion is assessed by a dermatologist first, because lasering over it removes the ability to monitor it.
Aftercare
Keep the area clean, covered and dry as instructed for the first days. Do not pick blisters or crusts — that is where scarring comes from. No sea, pool or direct sun until fully healed, and SPF 50 on the area between sessions for the entire course.

The final figure is set during your consultation, once the areas and quantities you actually need are assessed — the consultation itself is complimentary. Cash (MXN or USD) and card accepted. The USD figure is a reference and moves with the exchange rate.
Frequently asked questions
How many sessions will I need?
Six to twelve is typical, but the honest answer requires seeing the tattoo. Ink colour, density, depth, age and your own immune clearance all change the number, and any figure given without looking is a sales number.
Will it disappear completely?
Often, but not always. Black ink usually clears fully; certain greens, light blues and yellows may only fade. You will be told which category your tattoo falls into before starting.
Does it hurt more than getting the tattoo?
Most people say the sensation is sharper but far shorter. Numbing cream is used where it helps, and a session lasts a fraction of the time the tattoo took.
Can I do it during a beach holiday?
It is a poor fit. The area needs one to two weeks of healing with no sea, no pool and no sun, and sun exposure between sessions raises the risk of pigment changes.
